My parents have been playing in Mexico for the last few weeks, and they are coming home today. Thinking about what has happened while they have been away made me realize just how long 3 weeks can be in Toddlerville.
In the last three weeks my children got sick, got better, and are now getting sick again. (Snow is beautiful, but this is the sort of thing that leaves moms begging for Spring!) My little Princess learned how to whistle--now I know I never want a canary--and came home from school with her first sex question. The Little Prince suffered through a not-so-fabulous haircut from the Queen--fortunately he doesn't really care, and his hair grows fast. And, Baby learned how to walk, give "five", sleep through the night, and say "kitty" (if you listen just right).
Also, Queen Mommy helped with a two-stake* production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors", passed out 50-something neighbor gifts (almost done!), bought way too many toys for her children, finally put up the Christmas tree, and tried at least three new strategies in the war against rude and whiny behavior--one of which has not completely failed yet.
I'm sure there was more, but also in the last three weeks Queen Mommy's brain turned to mush--oh wait, that was years ago!

*BTW, in case you were wondering, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is geographically organized into congregations called "wards". A "stake" is a group of wards. (Generally 3-5 thousand members in 5-10 congregations.)
