Well, the saga continues. This morning Jason was working on the computer, and Brett came to him and said he could not find the yellow fish. Jason asked what he thought happened, and Brett said maybe he died. I came in on the conversation and asked, "How many fish are in there?" Brett checked, and reported that there are 5. (I got another red one during nap-time yesterday.) I started to ask if that's how many he had before, but Jason beat me and asked him if the fish looked the same. Brett said they look different. Jason asked, "Do you think Mommy killed all your fish?" Brett laughed incredulously and said "no!" Jason asked, "Why not?" Brett replied, "Because Mommy is always very careful."
I'm leaving pieces out, because I can't remember everything that was said, and I don't remember exactly how the conversation ended, but it seems that Brett has figured out that we have new fish. He doesn't seem to wonder (yet) exactly how we got the new fish, and doesn't seem too upset by his conclusion that the old fish are dead. And, (most important to me!) it sounds like he does not believe it could be my fault that the fish died.

I almost forgot, Ashley has been looking for the snail. We haven't come to any conclusions on that topic yet.
