Rediculous!

Maybe this is just me. When I am pregnant (yes, if you are one of the few who didn't know, or think you knew, I am having baby number 4 in April) I prefer to wear longer dresses. A skirt and shirt is fine, but then you have to worry a teensy bit about your belly showing between. And, if you wear a knee length dress and cannot always see your knees you are a bit self-conscious about how much you might be showing and not know it... etc. Anyway, that's just how I feel. With my last three babies I have worn mostly skirts and my one long jean jumper. This time around waistbands have been bugging me a bit, and I am sick of my jumper, so I decided to make a concerted effort to look for a longer dress. You'd think I am not the only person who wants a longer dress, wouldn't you?

Well! After checking all of the local shops, I headed on-line. Destination Maternity (dot com) has a bunch of different brands all on one sight, so I thought that would be the perfect place to look. After looking at 360 some odd dresses (I am not exaggerating, that is a conservatively figured number) I found 18 long dresses. Four were wedding dresses. All the rest were sleeveless (not necessarily bad, if it looks ok with something underneath) and several were strapless. The cheapest dress was on sale for $50--no wonder there, it was hideous! Three were machine washable, the rest were dry clean only---except one, a strapless chiffon for $495 that was "spot clean". Two were bright summery prints--one ok, the other kind-of too orangey--$150-200. Seems like a lot to spend on a summer dress to me, but maybe I'm too cheap. The rest of them (aside from the ugly one and the two sun dresses) were pretty formal--most longer than floor length (for those extremely graceful pregnant ladies)--and the only one I loved was $365 [I didn't love it that much, even if I had the money]. (see picture)

It sounds like I am going to have to get creative, and make my own!
(By the way, in case you were curious, I think ALL the long ones were by A Pea In The Pod)

Too bad I'm not closer. I could let you borrow the dresses that I have. But I think I still only have 3 that are long.

Rediculous? Ridiculous? Hmm.. The first time I did it the computer didn't underline it! I really am a terrible speller---that's how I justify playing that bookworm adventures game! :)

Kristen~if you really don't mind I think I will take you up on borrowing the dresses. :)

Congrats! I didn't know you were expecting. I know what you mean about dresses - even for non pregnant people it is hard to find anything modest. I have found some really good deals on modest dresses at downeastoutfitters.com and chadwicks.com (I think those were the places) and maybe they would have some maternity clothes.
